We Would Love your Help to Spread the Warmth
Knit for Us
We currently have over 10,000 knitters located all around Australia. However, the demand for our new hand knitted items is increasing.
Please refer to the items listed below and start knitting or crocheting!
Include a note with your name and email address, so that we can acknowledge your donation. Deliver to your closest drop-off point.
Much needed items:
Scarves
Beanies
Socks
Gloves (including fingerless)
Adult blankets (approx. 1.6m x 1.2m)
Knitted squares that can be assembled by volunteers to make blankets
Children’s jumpers and cardigans
Knitted toys
Cot blankets (1m x 1.2m, SIDS guidelines)
Pram blankets
Baby cardigans (not jumpers)
Baby beanies
Baby booties
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept the following items:
Second hand items
Knitting and crochet needles
Pattern books
Half balls of wool
Items for premature babies (until further notice)
Shop bought items
Plastic buttons or eyes on hand knitted toys (SIDS recommend that toys should not have plastic buttons or eyes stitched to stuffed toys as they are a choke hazard for littlies)
Pins (please remember to remove all pins)
We attach a KOGO label to each item individually so recipients are aware that each piece has been made for them with love and care – so there is no need to label the items that you donate.
In our fight against waste we are encouraging a reduction in the use of plastic – there is no need to individually wrap knitted pieces.
Give a Baby a Warm Start
A heart-warming initiative that started in 2009, was to make up baby gift packs to support new mums undergoing financial hardship.
These gift packs contain a hand knitted cot blanket, pram blanket, beanie, booties, baby jacket and small toy.
