Although we have recently had a lovely touch of Spring, the weather here is changeable and the demand for winter woollies remains strong. Our community partner organisations are still placing orders, so please keep your donations coming in.

We are delighted to announce that whilst it is only mid September, we have already exceeded last year’s total distribution of items to those experiencing hardship in our community.

Now that the Footy season is nearly over, our thoughts turn to Christmas which will be here before we know it!

We will be running the kogo Christmas Angel project again this year. Unfortunately, the happiest time of year for many can be the hardest time of the year for those most in need. By becoming a KOGO Angel you can brighten the lives of children living in difficult circumstances and help us to bring them some joy this Christmas.

Last year, thanks to the generosity of kind people like you, we were able to distribute 5000 Christmas gifts to children of all ages ranging from babies to teenagers.
Please help us by donating from the following list:

New toys/games/books/puzzles (must be in original unwrapped package)
Electronic games or gadgets or headphones
Products (in original packaging) such as makeup, perfumes, aftershaves and nail polish that are suitable for teenagers
Sporting goods and gear
Donate a voucher
Make a monetary donation via the website www.kogo.org.au and we will purchase a gift on your behalf

The goods can be taken to your regular kogo drop off point or any drop off point listed on the website. We need to ensure that your donations reach us by early November so that they can be wrapped and distributed to the children in time for Christmas.

Please note: Lincraft stores are NOT able to accept Christmas gifts for logistics reasons. However, once again, for the six weeks before Christmas, Lincraft staff on the registers will ask each customer for a gold coin donation to the kogo Christmas Angel Project. Message from Joy Bourne

Joy Bourne who has been knitting the most beautiful toys for many years for the kogo Christmas Angel Project sent the following email:

As the weather gets warmer lots of people still love to contribute and may be prepared to knit some toys. A hand knitted gift for a child in need is very special, it gives a warm glow to both the recipient and the knitter. When I make toys I always think of who might receive the toy and whether they will like it, it makes all the extra fancy detail on the toy a pleasure to complete.

Congratulations to our wonderful volunteer Di Gunn for being one of the recipients of the 2019 Caulfield Volunteer Awards.

Di has been involved with kogo for over 10 years and helps with almost every aspect of kogo. She also knits the most beautiful items for us!

As well as receiving a certificate for Di's dedication, kogo was the recipient of a $1000 donation by the Caulfield Park Community Bank® Branch of Bendigo Bank.

During the month of October, the kogo office will NOT be open on Tuesdays.
Our packing days will be Thursday 3rd October, Thursday 10th October, Thursday 17^thOctober, Thursday 24th October and Thursday 31st October.

Normal Tuesday packing days will resume from November 12th November because Tuesday 5th November is Cup Day.

I feel very honoured to be a small part of your team and when I see it just getting better and bigger every month makes me realise how lucky I am to be a part of your wonderful organisation. How great was the Purple Beanies -thanks for the feedback.

My granddaughter is just turning 12 and wants to learn to knit so for her birthday I have purchased needles, wool and a basic beginners knitting book and we are going to make squares and hopefully blankets for Kogo as our first project.

Hope this really cold spell ends soon and we get some warmer weather for those in so much need.

Your generous donation of knitted goods will help young people and their families that we
support through some of our programs including:

LiveWires after school and holiday program based at Collingwood Housing Estate for children aged 5 – 12 years;
Steps Outreach program supporting young people (15 – 21 years) experiencing homelessness;
Hand Brake Turn providing automotive and life skills training (15 – 21 years); and
Inside Out providing housing and support for young people (aged 16 – 18) coming out of youth justice or child protection.

We really appreciate your support for our work and the young people that we support. We know how challenging and difficult it can be for people coming from disadvantaged, vulnerable or at risk backgrounds. Your donated goods will help to have a positive impact on some of the young people and families that we support!
